Who is Ms. Raether?
I graduated from Northern Michigan University in May 2014 with my major in Secondary English Education and minors in Secondary German and Mathematics Education. I am originally from Eau Claire, Wisconsin but have been living in the U.P. for over ten years now and consider this my home. I lived in Marquette for four years, in Ishpeming for a year, in Hancock for just over four years, and now make Painesdale my home. I grew up in a fairly large city of around 70,000 people and am thrilled to be living in a much smaller area.
I have three cats: Frankie, Ben, and Skitter. Frankie has a missing back paw, but he gets around like a champ. Ben was named after the Star Trek captain Benjamin Sisko, my second favorite captain after Jean-Luc Pacard. If you couldn't tell yet, I enjoy watching Star Trek and other science fiction as well. Skitter was named after the main character in a web serial called Worm; my fiance (Jimmy) loves reading it. I love football, especially the Green Bay Packers! Growing up in Wisconsin, the Packers were basically a way of life for me, so it was nice coming to a place with fellow fans. But have no fear, other football fans are welcome in my classroom; I know the Lions fans in the area are numerous. I have been playing tennis since I was in elementary school and played on my high school team; I can't play as often up here since the season is so short, but it is my favorite sport to play. I also read a lot and love reading basically anything; I will always take good book suggestions.

How does Ms. Raether teach?
In general, I am a very approachable, laid-back person who communicates very well. I am a people person for lack of better phrasing. At the same point in time, we are in school to learn. I will have high expectations for each and every student, and we will work hard. Every day will have an educational outcome, and I hope that each student can meet that outcome every day all year. If at any point you have questions or concerns (parents or students), please contact me as soon as possible, either in class or through my contact information. I will help out in any way that I can because I know that each student can learn if she/he has the proper encouragement and support.
